The Urban Renewal (Tax relief) Act 1995 resulted from efforts by the Government of Jamaica to stimulate development in and promote the improvement and restoration of areas suffering from 'blight or urban decay'. The act provides for an incentive period of at least 10 years to commence from a date specified by Order of the Minister responsible for Finance.
