“Be all you can be�. This is the aim of Optimists International and since 1919 this organization has been bringing out the best in young people around the world. Optimist International is dedicated to meeting the needs of the world’s youth through offering both tangible resources and nurturing a positive mental attitude that substantiates self- love.

In order to appeal to the young, optimist meetings and their members are known to be upbeat and ‘full of beans’. This organization promotes self- love and respect within youth through its mentorship programs. Optimists International also provide young people who are less fortunate with resources and the necessary tools to improve their standard of living, thus giving them hope to be all they can be.

There are over 3,200 individual Optimist branches located around the world, which serve six million young people by way of the implementation of 65, 000 service projects each year. Through these projects many young people from various backgrounds and cultures get the opportunity to interact. This interaction greatly helps to foster a love and appreciation for other cultures, thus creating well- rounded individuals who are aware of the world they live in while continuously fostering understanding and international peace among the world’s young generation.

The various chapters of the Optimist club are operated by individuals and as such they have flexibility to carry out the most appropriate service projects for their community.
