Jamaica Association of local Government (JALGO)
General Information:
Formed in 1958, the Jamaica Association of Local Government (JALGO) represents several categories of workers in Local and Central Government. In addition to this, the organization represents quasi-government agencies in Jamaica, including Firefighters, Officers and Sub-Officers, as well as the civilian staff of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, employees in the Pre-supervisory units of the National Water Commission, workers in the Island’s hospital and health, schools and Parish Councils.
Main Objectives:
- Improving the Status and promoting the advancement of workers in Local and Central Government, statutory boards and quasi-government organizations.
- To maintain and obtain just wages, salaries, commissions, hours of work and other conditions of service.
