Step into the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel and enter an era of gracious living and lavish hospitality. This boutique hotel is ideally located in New Kingston, minutes away from the business district, and is known for quiet elegance, excellent cuisine and remarkable service. The beautiful mansion with its broad arches, elegant balustrades and lush gardens is a delightful respite in the city for both the business traveller and holiday guests alike. The lobby with its carefully selected antiques and original mouldings is warm and inviting, a preferred spot of many, where an accomplished pianist plays each evening.

The function rooms are the perfect choice for executive meetings and exclusive events. The recently refurbished junior suites are well appointed, with great attention given to the comfort and ease, so relished by discerning business travellers at the end of a hectic day. The tasteful mahogany furnishings and garden views further distinguish the generous rooms. The individually appointed luxurious executive suites are without parallel in Kingston. Our visitors relish lounging by the swimming pool in a truly tropical setting or are known to enjoy a typical afternoon English tea on the terrace.

History:

This recently restored colonial mansion, Terra Nova, was built in 1924 by Mr. H Alexander, a member of one of the wealthiest Kingstonian families as a wedding gift for his bride. A few years later, the Myers family, a name synonymous with the famous Myers Rum, bought the property. Some additions were made to the original structure, after which the now ‘great house’ was sold in 1937 to Mr. C.B. Lindo.

The Terra Nova again changed hands in 1938, when, Major Blackwell, who had fallen in love with this elegant home and the gracious surroundings, purchased it. During his ownership, the Terra Nova became famous for its stables; and is the birthplace of the well known record producer and hotelier, Chris Blackwell.

On August 31st 1959, the Hon. Abe Issa, Jamaica’s founding father of modern day tourism, officially opened the Terra Nova as a Restaurant and Hotel. The Terra Nova soon became one of the finest establishments in Kingston – a reputation which is enjoyed to this day. The Terra Nova, now the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel, known for its quiet elegance, excellent cuisine and remarkable service is now owned and operated by the Hussey family, one of Jamaica’s leading entrepreneurial groups.

The family remains committed to providing the highest level of service and hospitality.
