Presentation by Sir Dennis Byron - CCJ Jamaica's Final Appellate Court
It is an accepted theory, however, that judicial independence cannot depend exclusively on the character of the Judges. In this context, I have been an advocate that each judiciary should have its code of ethical conduct. This code should be published. It serves as a reminder to the judges, and to inform the public of the ethical standards that they should expect from their judges. I can report that the CCJ has its code of judicial conduct which is published and available on the court’s website.
